Modifying an Existing Quote

Quotes are a tool for communication and negotiation with potential customers — not surprisingly, that means that quotes often need to be revised. A Quote may be updated several times before eventually being confirmed and converted into an Order.

 

Finding the Quote

Before you can modify your quote, you will need to find it. The easiest way to locate a quote is through the Quotes list, which you can find in the left navigation.

If you have a lot of active Quotes, you may need to search for the Quote, using the customer name, quote number, or delivery location. Once you have located the Quote on the list, open it by clicking on the .

This will bring up the Quote record: the general information about the order, including the Shipment and Pick-Up/Delivery Information. The record also includes any Revenue and Quote Rates you have already added to the quote.

 

Editing Quote Details - General Info

You can change the basic Quote details — including the Customer, Contact and Quote Dates — by clicking the 'Edit' button that appears in the header, next to the quote name. This will bring up the Edit Quote page. Make any necessary changes, then click the 'Save' button to return to the main Quote view.

Note that if you are making significant changes to a Quote, you can use the Revised Date field — accessible via the 'Edit' button — to indicate that a new revision has taken place. This can be particularly helpful if more than one person at your company might be dealing with the quote.

 

Editing Shipments

If you want to update the pick-up or delivery details on the Quote, you can do so by either editing an existing Shipment on the Quote, or adding a new one. To edit a Shipment, just click on the button next to the Shipment. This will bring up the Shipment edit view, allowing you to make the necessary changes.

If the details of the Shipment have changed completely, or you had not yet added this information, it may make more sense to add an entirely new Shipment. To do so, click on the 'Add Shipment' button, and enter the information as you would if you were creating a Quote.

You can also delete a Shipment from the Quote by editing the Shipment and selecting 'Delete Record' from the 'More' button, which is at the top right of the record view.

 

Revenue, Quote Rates, Notes

Changes to the other sections of a Quote follow the same procedure as when you were creating the Quote in the first place. For a reminder, check out the Creating a Quote article.
